[HanCinema’s News] Kim Byung-choon Closes Out a Big Year (2021/12/31)

At fifty-five years of age, Kim Byung-choon is far from a new actor. He’s been appearing in minor named roles for quite some time. But 2021 has been good for his visibility, starting out strong as the vice principal in the high school drama “True Beauty” which carried over from 2020. He also had a noteworthy appearance in “Sisyphus: The Myth” as the owner of a Chinese restaurant who meets an unfortunate fate.

Kim Byung-choon had a more prominent role in “Hello, Me!” as the highly romantic and affectionate taxi driver father of the lead character. More recently he appeared in “IDOL: The Coup” as a management director who showed strong chemistry with the members of Cotton Candy, the low-tier girl group around which the drama revolves. In terms of ongoing dramas, Kim Byung-choon is appearing in both “The One and Only” as well as “Red Sleeve” showing both contemporary and historical presence.

Kim Byung-choon also had multiple film appearances this year. In “Swag” and “Tomb of the River” he only played unnamed characters, but in “Gull” he had a more noteworthy role as an elderly rapist whose actions drive the independent movie’s conflict. Kim Byung-choon is also confirmed to return next year in the historical swordplay film “Salsu” where his exact role remains yet unknown.
